In the 18th Century the weathervane came into general use and took on a decorative role.
At that time, its design and silhouette reflected the trade or interests of its owner and it continues to do so today. However, weathervanes are also used to illustrate family subjects, decorating the roofs of our houses with hunting or ploughing scenes, for example. Personalised motifs can also be made from a drawing or photograph.
